The Good Shepherd Catholic Church included the relocation of an established parish to a new facility. The new church was built on a 32 acre tract of land north of Smithville, Missouri selected from 5 parcels evaluated.
The in-depth site selection process was immediately followed by the development of a comprehensive master plan that included space for the church, an adoration chapel, parochial school, gymnasium, day-care facility Knights of Columbus hall, rectory and outdoor recreation/athletic areas.
The 2 story 25,000 SF phase 1 facility was designed to create a traditional ecclesiastic “Catholic” image. It features a 70’ tall bell tower, 500 seat church, a fellowship narthex, offices, a parish hall for 300 in dining with a commercial kitchen and 9 Sunday school classrooms.
Design features include a column free walk-out lower level comprised of a long span composite concrete floor system. The worship space is designed to be expanded to seat 700 with a 70 seat adoration chapel apse was included in the design.
