Kansas City, MO.

On November 1, 2007, Charlie Horn, a 2-year-old Kansas City boy, was killed when he attempted to climb a 30” dresser in his home. It was through this tragedy that Charlie’s House was born.

Charlie’s House, with support from Children’s Mercy Hospital is a child safety education facility with a variety of programs aimed at caregivers and families. In conjunction with the KCMO Health department, it is to be located on the existing “Safety Street” property at 24th and Campbell.

The facility is comprised of 3 main areas: the administrative offices for Charlie’s House Inc., a community outreach conference facility, and a 3,400-sf demonstration house to profile the many common hazards to children found in the home.
